[VERSE 1]
You’ve gone to Heaven, but here I remain.
Parting was so hard, my heart feels the pain.
Sweet mem’ries of you, can still make me weep.
I don’t mind the tears, they wash out my grief.
[BRIDGE 1]
Some days it gets dark, then Satan creeps in.
He says end it all, and join you again.
But I shout back, No! That choice is not mine!
Only God can choose, the end of my time.
God gave us His Son, who's our loving guide.
I walk out of that dark, with Him by my side.
[CHORUS]
In Jesus’ embrace, where pain does cease.
In Jesus’ embrace, there’s so much peace.
From God’s Kingdom, with beauty divine.
I know you’re watching, until it’s my time.
[VERSE 2]
God gives us choices, down paths that He weaves.
Guided by Jesus, as we laugh and grieve.
I’ll save the last road, for the end of my days.
I’ll know it’s time, when God’s light is ablaze.
[CHORUS]
In Jesus’ embrace, where pain does cease.
In Jesus’ embrace, there’s so much peace.
From God’s Kingdom, with beauty divine.
I know you’re watching, until it’s my time.
[OUTRO]
God has a plan, I know that it’s true.
We’ll be together, when my time is through.
I'll live in God's love, while we're apart.
As Faith, Hope, and Love, mend my sore heart!
This song was born from the long, aching days that follow the loss of someone deeply loved. After writing “I’ll Watch From Heaven,” I realized I needed to speak to the ones still here — the ones left behind with the heavy weight of grief and the quiet, dangerous voice that whispers it would be easier to join them now.
The lyrics come from the perspective of someone wrestling with profound sorrow, sweet memories that bring both comfort and tears, and the very real temptation to end the pain by ending their own life. The bridge confronts that moment directly — the lie from the enemy that says “just come now.” The song pushes back with truth: only God decides when it’s time. Our job is to live, to choose faith, hope, and love even when the darkness feels overwhelming.
I wrote this with my own family in mind — especially those who have lost parents, siblings, or spouses, and who now carry the daily struggle of choosing to stay when part of them wants to go. It’s also for anyone who has ever heard that subtle, deadly suggestion that heaven would be better than tomorrow. The song says clearly: God does not want us to die from grief. He wants us to live fully, to let tears come when they must, and to trust His timing.
The message is simple but urgent: grieve honestly, resist despair, and keep walking the path God has laid out for you. The chorus offers the comfort of knowing our loved ones are safe in Jesus’ embrace, watching over us with peace and love — but our time is not yet. We are called to live in faith, hope, and love until the day He calls us home.
The Scriptures that guided me include Psalm 34:18 (“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted”), 2 Corinthians 1:3–4 (God comforts us so we can comfort others), and James 5:11 (the Lord is full of compassion and mercy).
Dedicated to everyone who has stood at the edge of despair after losing someone they love, and to those who chose to keep living. Thank you to my wife, my family, and my faith community for the conversations that helped shape these words.
May this song remind you: your life is still sacred. The pain is real, but so is the hope. God is with you now, and one day you’ll be with Him — but until then, live boldly, love deeply, and trust the plan.
